The packaging of
this particular product caught my eye. I admit that I tend to judge a book by its
cover, or in this case, a product by its packaging. I am definitely more
inclined to buy a product that has pretty, sleek, modern, and unique packaging,
rather than some dull, out-dated, tacky packaging. I picked it up and after
reading the details I became very interested. But I always, always, ALWAYS, do
my research before I ever purchase any beauty product. That night, I went on
three different websites to read the reviews: makeupalley.com, amazon.com, and
ulta.com. About 95% of all the reviews I read were positive with promising
results, some as little as within 2 weeks. I was sold and the next day, I
ordered it on Amazon.

Price:
The Grow
Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum retails for $34.99 at Ulta, Target, CVS, and Amazon
but when I first discovered the product at CVS, I saw it on sale for about $31.
When I purchased it on Amazon, it was on sale for about $28.58. I believe I
paid a little under $32 including tax (Free shipping via Amazon Prime)
Size:
The serum comes
in 2 fluid ounces… so I consider this pretty pricey. (That’s why I find it very
important to do research before you try any product!)
Here is a
picture of the bottle in my hand for reference.
Smell:
The smell is
very musky and herbal. I think it does have some perfume in it too. How I would
describe it is, it smells like something my grandpa would use… and I don’t mean
that in a bad way. The smell is not over powering, however, and wears off after
2-3 hours of application.
Application:
The directions
say to apply 20 drops daily but I found that 15 drops is more than enough. The
serum comes with a pipette so I use it to drop 5 drops on my fingertips, rub it
on my scalp, trying my best to get as least amount of product on my actual hair.
I repeat that process 3 times – totaling 15 drops. I massage my scalp for about
5 minutes. I rub the leftover residue of the product that is on my finger
throughout my hair to the tips (keyword: leftover residue), and I wrap my hair
in a towel for about 5 more minutes.
Why I decided to
try this product:
I became a
vegetarian in the year 2012 and ever since, I noticed my hair getting thinner,
and thinner, and noticed more hair fallout in the shower. I did some research
on possible causes and a lot of sources say women experience hair shedding from
change of diet, drastic weight loss, inadequate intake of proteins, fat, and
iron, and/or child birth.
a. I did change
my diet – I cut out all meat.
b. I did
experience weight loss – I was around 120-125 lbs in 2012 to currently 110 lbs.
I am 5’4”. It was not drastic weight loss but being petite, 10-15 lbs made a
huge difference.
c. I find myself
eating mostly carbs and not enough protein, fats and iron.

Start date:
September 11th 2015
Update: Day 3
My hair is very
thin and gets oily very fast. But I was so surprised to find that this serum
did not make my hair anymore oily. It actually made my roots fluffier and slightly more
voluminous! Also I think the leftover residue that I rubbed onto my hair made
it softer and leaker.
Update: Day 8
It's September 19th 2015! 8 days since I've started using the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum. This product claims to show visible hair length increase in 8 days... I don't think I can accurately test this claim because I got a hair trim on the 15th. I was planning on getting a trim before I started using the serum but I was eager to try it out and did not have time to get a trim until the 15th. My previous haircut did not have a lot of layers so I went and got layers and cut 0.5 inches in length.
However, my hair surprisingly seems less oily at the end of the day and has a more lightweight feel to it as I mentioned in the Day 3 update.
Update: 1 month
Today is October 19th and it has been approximately 1 month since I have been using the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum. I definitely notice hair growth but I have not been noticing any drastic improvements on volume and hair mass. I do feel as if my hair has more "life" to it, rather than being dull, flat, and stringy. I previously had a problem with hair loss and I cannot say for sure if this serum helped with decreasing it. I do notice minimal hair some days when I wash my hair.
Overall:
I like this hair serum but don't find it as a holy grail or miracle product. I am almost halfway through my bottle and haven't decided if I would be repurchasing it.
